European Car-Free Day in Marlborough
“Get rid of cars for a day!” on September 22nd 2008
Why? Wouldn’t you like to see what life could be like without cars – well at least for a day?
Join us, along with other local businesses, schools, local councils and individuals,to make this happen!
On September 22nd, see if you can leave your car at home and come to work/school/shop some other way. It probably won’t be easy! In a rural area like ours, we face a tougher task than those in urban areas. However, our car habit is costing us in many ways, from the shrinking wallet to the expanding waistline – not to mention the climate - and people are starting to notice that a lot of our car use is just plain habit. Join us and kick the habit!
Here’s How:
- Plan to get to your destination without your car. If you can – DO IT! And tell us so that we can count the miles saved and publish our community’s results
- If you have got to drive, can you do it as a lift share? Ask around, ask the boss!
- As an individual spread the word, could a group of you get together and do something really eye catching?
- As an employer can you offer an incentive at work - free doughnuts sounds good!
