Marlborough Climate Day 2007Saturday May 12th 2007 Supporters of Marlborough Climate Pledge (MCP) gathered hundreds of new pledges during Marlborough Climate Day – exceeding their target of 500 and more than doubling the existing number of pledges made since the launch of MCP a year ago. These were recorded on the 'amazing pledgeometer' outside the Jubilee Rooms on the High Street, in a carnival-like atmosphere.
The colourful creations from the morning’s kids’ junk sculpture workshop adorned the various MCP pledge action tables, the climate-related fair games and the information and advice stalls. Click here to see photos of the workshop.

Rhubarb Jackpot! |
Pledges made range from using low-energy light-bulbs, buying locally-produced food, taking a shopping bag and refusing plastic bags, leaving the car at home for short local trips, flying less and many more. Many of the local shops and companies supported the day with publicity and donations. Waitrose, the largest source of plastic bags in the town, welcomed a MCP stall inside the store while also handing out free ‘bags for life’ and informing customers about the energy and waste associated with plastic bags.
Alongside MCP’s compost ambassador, offering information and advice, Hills Waste Group promoted their recycling and composting services, providing samples of compost from household waste. The Marlborough Town Crier paraded along the High St.
Thanks to all our enthusastic volunteers and supporters who made the day possible and so successful. Andrea Lucas, Cyla Higley, Beck, Gina, Judy, Jo Those Responsible (at the end of a long day...)
