Marlborough Climate Pledge

Take Action

Deforestation, Climate Change and Livestock.

Please write to our MP:
Michael Ancram, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA

ancramm@parliament.uk

Request that he ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Miliband, MP, to ensure that the Government includes global greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture in its strategy to reduce the UK’s impact on climate change.

The global livestock and animal feed production contributes to 18% of global greenhouse gas emissions and the impact of the UK’s intensive meat and dairy industry, with its reliance on soy production for animal feed, is a major driver of deforestation in South America.

Ask for measures to reduce the damaging effects of intensive meat and dairy production and reduce our reliance on imported animal feeds by supporting farmers to develop home grown animal feeds and informing the public of the need to eat less meat.
