WaterThe impact of our water use on climate change is enormous. For drinking, cooking, and sanitation, the average Briton uses up to 150 litres, and energy is needed to extract, transport, and purify it.
Use the Thames water survey: http://www.thameswater.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/corp/hs .xsl/3786.htm to help reduce your domestic water use.
In addition, however, we each use up to 3400 litres in the production of the goods we consume, most of which ‘embedded’ water is imported from other nations – often countries with scarce resources.
The website ‘Waterfootprint’ explains that the term relates to the total volume of freshwater used to produce the goods we all consume – often referred to as embedded water.
